Vizio 42 inch 240hz XVT Series Top Rated LCD Flat Panel HDTV Review

December 1, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment

OMG This TV is my new best friend.  It blows the competition away with its stunning clarity and sound.  It has built in surround sound that I can actually decipher.  It has a whopping 240 hz refresh rate that handles the fastest action and its streamlined profile is one of the Classiest looks I’ve seen.

My friends who have HDTV’s suddenly aren’t happy with their TV’s when they see this beauty.  My wife wasn’t happy when I bought it until she watched a movie and now she only wants to watch TV on the Vizio 42 XVT.  The 240hz makes such a big difference so that there is no motion blur and a vivid picture that is pure eye candy.

Check it Out Here for an incredible price

When I hooked the bluray up to this TV and watched Transformers and Star Trek, I was absolutely mesmerized by the sheer clarity of the picture.  You just sit there and can’t believe what you’re seeing.  The clarity is so good that the picture almost looks 3D.  You won’t be disappointed with this flat panel HDTV.   I was able to unpack this myself and it is surprisingly light for being a larger TV.  The remote control is one of the most expensive looking and feeling control I have every seen.  Vizio didn’t spare any expense when they created the XVT Series and the brushed metal accents and sold feel of both the TV and remote are greatly appreciated.  Here are just some of the awesome stats on it:

5 Stars Wonderful Investment
Just wanted to say that I am really satisfied with this purchase. It’s been able to do everything I need, as well as the stuff I didn’t think it could handle.

The only thing I need to understand a little more are the hotkeys and the quick functions that allow you to zoom and scroll, etc.

Oh and please don’t forget to charge the battery right out of the box. In the manual it says to fully charge it and burn it down a few times to get the full potential of it. I just plugged the A/C and started using it. :-)

4 Stars Pretty Good
I got my black ASUS 1000HE yesterday from Amazon. The following lists my likes/dislikes:

Likes:

1. The keyboard fits well.

2. Build quality is not bad at all.

3. The touch pad is snappy. Multi-touch is powerful. You don’t really need touch buttons most of time.

4. The function keys are handy.

5. Battery life is the best.

6. WiFi connection is very good. I use 802.11G.

7. Plays video smoothly.

8. The screen is good.

9. 160GB HD makes me happy.

Dislikes:

1. Bigger and heavier than I expected. It feels a little like a notebook.

2. The fingerprint.

3. Touch pad buttons are too hard to push.

4. Dull photo display

Things to improve:

1. Lighter and thinner

2. Screen mode for movie, photo and text.

Overall, for the price, it is very good. It serves the purpose well.

1 Star Are first impressions really everything?
I hope not.

My first Asus Eee PC 1000HE arrived dead on arrival. Pushed the power button, lights came on and that’s it. After a few seconds, lights went out and power went off. Less than 24 hours after arrival it’s on its way back to Amazon.

I am ordering another one and hope that the second time’s a charm.

1 Star Incorrect Hard Drive
I have received two of these and they do not have 160 GB Hard drives, they are only 80. Amazon is checking into this for me, but everything says 160, the description on line, the product information, the stickers on the computers. They should have an answer for me in a couple of days. They are being very nice, but I had to ask for a supervisor to get them to take action other than sending out another mislabeled computer.

5 Stars ASUS Netbook 1000HE First Impressions
I bought this model netbook after doing a fair amount of comparison shopping. Here are my impressions after two days.

1. Coming out of the box the asus just works. I plugged it in, hit the power button and followed a few steps to fire up Windows XP.

2. There’s not too much crapware on the machine which is a good start. They do include some potentially useful things like StarOffice which is worth playing around with.

3. The first thing one needs to do is download some new core applications. I started with the basics which include Google Chrome, Google Gears and Flash player. Since I have laptop and desktop machines (Macs) that do the heavy lifting I don’t want to burden the Asus with lots of software.

4. The machine worked well enough with the default 1GB of RAM but I got a meaningful bump in speed by upgrading to 2BG. So it’s a highly recommended way to spend $25. (Also note that for the new RAM to “take” you need to hit F2 during a cold start to get the BIOS to recognize it.)

5. I’m a fairly speedy touch typist that appreciates a good keyboard and this one is excellent for such a small computer.

6. The touchpad/mouse is a little strange. I may still need to tweak the settings but it is a bit hard to control. When using in a stationary mode some may find an external mouse to be worth adding.

7. Small screen is actually pretty usable. I have hooked up a VGA external display to test the function and it also works fine. Probably makes sense if you plan to use the netbook as a primary computer and do more than a few hours of work on it per day.

8. Over 9 hours of battery life is a game changer. Most laptops can only go about 2-3 hours on a charge with normal use. Because you worry about it you end up still tied to a cord. The netbook is truly portable and free to be used independent of trying to find a plug in some unfriendly public place.

Some things to consider in addition to the extra RAM mentioned above is an external optical drive. Since I need to put a version of Microsoft Office on I plan to use the DVD. I bought an additional case because the one it comes with lacks handles. I’m probably going to end up using a small wireless mouse when I am at my desk. I have an extra one already but if you don’t you might consider buying one. Get a small wireless one.

There’s going to be lots of innovation in this category so waiting will help although the cost is so low that you can get one now. If in six or nine months a new version based on ION or something else comes along you can just buy another one and give your old one to someone and they will be very happy with it.

User Ratings and Reviews

2 Stars Fuzzy Sound
Basically when the ipod is playing music there is a fuzzy sound bad quality i am sad.

3 Stars I-Home 9 Docking station
I just bought this system about 2 weeks ago and some of the bads i don’t like about it is even the antenna is moved away it still makes a buzzy sound is there any way you can get rid of it. The sound is ok I love bass not too much…

2 Stars Great Clock, Bad Sound
I returned this item a few days after I bought it. While the clock itself is nice, since you can turn off the backlight in several steps, there was something wrong with the sound.

When I put in an uncharged iPod, it was great. But once charged, no matter if I used the radio or the iPod, there was a constant rhythmic buzz. I thought this made it defective, but after reading some other reviews this seems to be a common issue.

I got a Sony ICF-C1IPMK2 Speaker System and Clock Radio with iPod Dock instead. No buzz, even better sound, and it even takes my 4th gen iPod. I leave that one permanently docked.

4 Stars Great Sound
This product has great sound and handy features. The remote control, the pre-sets,and the dual alarms are wonderful features to have. I use this product as an alarm clock as well. The only problems I have with this product are that I can not get the sleep feature volume to go low enough, which makes falling a sleep difficult and the volume for the alarm buzzer is not very loud. If I could switch the two volumes I would have rated this product five stars.

4 Stars Everything but radio is great
The iHome system is very easy to use and set up. It has wonderful features such as a sleep timer that gradually reduces volume over time, a gentle wake up with gradually increasing volume (and no sudden click as it turns on). The controls are very easy to use. The rotating wheels are similar to the early ipods. They feel a little flimsy, but seem to be holding up well. It comes with a remote control. My ipod fits snugly in it and it comes with adapters for any shape and style of mp3 player, including a cord for connecting any headphone jack to its line-in port. They were even nice enough to include backup batteries

My only complaint is that it mixes radio stations to the point that many are unlistenable. In my area 89.9 mixes with 99.7 - not even close on the dial! Since I mostly listen to books on tape and ipod music, this isn’t a deal breaker, but if you want to listen to the radio, this might not be the best choice.
