1 Star Dead after couple weeks
I was stoked to try the HD version. I have a mino standard and it was healthy and faithful. This one was dead in a week and a half after only being used once. Fully charge, no response, dead.

Shame.

1 Star Freezes up, loses video, then goes dead within a couple of days
This seems like a nice device, somewhat overpriced but with nice packaging and decent design. Essentially it’s a webcam with its own storage and battery. If you plug it into your computer it shows up as a drive and even has the application there ready to install. Unfortunately the MinoHD is not really HD and has some serious flaws. Firstly, the quality of the camera is pretty awful. It’s a cheap CCD that can capture high resolution but with overwhelming graininess. Even in good light, it’s not even analog TV quality. Colors are washed out and detail is lost in the graininess. Second is the quality and reliability of the device itself. When I started using it the first video froze the device after 15 seconds. No buttons worked, including the power button - it simply stayed in the record mode frozen on one frame. It took some searching on their support site to figure out how to get past this. The trick was to hold down the power button for 10 seconds, then power back on. Unfortunately the video is lost when you do this. Another shot I took was coming along very well but then the device froze up again after two minutes. That video was also lost. Aggravated, I sent a message to their support staff. In classic bad email support style, they didn’t read read what I wrote, they just pointed me to a document on the site that matched a keyword in my support request. If they had read it they would know that I already found that support document. Another message and another day (they do have a 1 business day turnaround on questions) and they said to try using the hole in the tripod mount to reset the device. By now, however, the MinoHD was toast, it would not even power on. It was DEAD. Their response this time - send it back to us. Forget it, it’s going back to Amazon. While looking for answers I also found websites full of complaints about Flip products. I think I’ll stay away from this brand. If they can’t make products that work well when brand new then I can’t trust them to be usable next week or next year.

2 Stars Buy the Vado HD
I had lots of problems with the software in the Flip. In frustration, I sent it back and got the Vado HD. Vado has a wider angle lens which you’ll want and batteries are rechargeable and replaceable. Also, the recording time is 4 hours on the middle quality which I think is as good as the Flip best quality which only gives you an hour. It is also better looking and videos upload nicely. The software package allows for great editing. I especially like the ability to take a snapshot from the video and save it as a picture.

Having used both, the Vado is the best choice.

5 Stars The iPhone of Cameras
Just terrific for the money. That’s all I can say. What a cool device. Simple to operate and fun to use. Buy one. You’re welcome!!

5 Stars Small and cool
I like this flip. There are so many uses that come in handy:

1. For client video testimonials

2. to record memories

3. To take video with a small device to show clients.

4. It is super easy to use

The only downfall that I can think of is the small screen if trying to show somneone else what was recorded, the speaker is loud enough to hear what has been said.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Very Pleased
Wasn’t sure I was going to be pleased with this system or not, after a few weeks just love it. Great system- just the right amount of inputs, nice easy setup, nice sound, and huge bang for the buck (payed $320), only complant I have is that the included DVD player when using a HDMI cable, needs a digital audio cable (either coax or optical) - seems stupid since HDMI carries digital audio. but not a huge deal

5 Stars Sony theatre-in-a-box
Sony HT7100DH Component Home Theater System with HDMI

Item was selected based on Consumer Reports reviews. Amazon offered it through a third party, the price was right and it was purchased. Delivery was timely and, although more work than anticipated, installation to the point of testing components shows great performance. Nice, compact package for our 1950-something sized living room.

4 Stars good sound
it sounds great. it’s not Bose, but it also doesn’t COST as much as Bose. Great for a medium sized room. DVD player is a little clunky, and i’m not a fan of 5-disc players, but it’s what came with it. Oh well.

I’m sure there are better out there, but if you’re on a budget, this one is def a good contender.

2 Stars Problems with hdmi input
Receiver had something loose rattling around inside. Opened and found broken piece off plastic housing. Did not effect perfomance, or so I thought. Some months later one of the hdmi inputs became intermittent. Not too happy with tiny center channel speaker. Replaced with a larger Sony speaker after a couple of weeks. Overall not very happy so I bought a Yamaha 5.1 receiver, also with hdmi pass through, and just kept the Sony speakers. Yamaha definitely sounds better.

3 Stars Good system for a small room!
I’ve had this system for about two months now and am pretty satisfied with it. Setting up the speakers was a pain in the ??? though. Connecting my HDTV,dish network box and DVD player(now a PanasonicBD35)was a little frustrating because I didn’t realize you needed a optical digital cable to get any sound eventhough I connected my componets with HDMI cables. If your planning on getting a Blue Ray DVD player you might want to get a higher end receiver, so you can really get the theatre surrsound. Even with these little problems this system puts out good surround sound for a small area. The auto calculation feature works well for those of us who are not “audiophiles”. So if you’er looking for system that puts out good sound for the price and can be easy to setup if you already know the pit falls then this is the system for you.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars IDJ2 rocks
Great for starting-up djs..unfortunately there is not much effects only looping…open source system works perfectly!very great firware updates you can feel the difference! No prob with the unit so far!

3 Stars Almost there, but not quite
What it does right, it does well. But where the ball drops, it falls pretty hard.

The unit is fine as advertised, and generally performs admirably: it mixes from a single iPod, or you can add an assortment of devices (USB-based drives, thumb drives, etc.). You need not only use the iPod. It plays various formats (WAV, MP3, etc.). It has a strong visual screen and plenty of outputs (XLR, RCA). Support is fair to middling. it has a very nice “crate” feature which let’s you pull out songs from your general pile and set them aside for quick access.

However:

- It may not read all of your songs.

ITunes isn’t on board with this piece, so you may have to still burn songs to CD and re-install them to iTunes (or some other drive/device) to use them. It reads what it can, but I found the Library software that comes with it somewhat useless.

- It’s lightweight.

Mostly plastic here. Invest in a case.

- The fade is too abrupt.

- A headphone cue knob (! Buttons, please) on the face of the device instead of the top?!

- The touted turntable action is cute, but not realistic. Going forward is kind of cool, but at the end of pulling back generates a pause. Between this and the suspect fader, not a lot of trick work happening here. Also, no dead-stop like real turntables.

- Some freezing there during 2 song play on occassion.

- HUGE load times if your iPod is loading more than about 8 GB. I use an iPod that has about 20 GBs on it and it takes about two hours to upload the changes. I don’t even want to think about how long it would take if I put my full 80 GBs on it.

- Costs just a little too much for an item with so many downsides.

I can’t recommend it as a primary unit for DJs who spin on the regular. It’s a nice piece for casual DJs who mostly do blends or for regular DJs who want a side piece that helps cut down on the amount of gear they need to carry around. I use this piece about twice a week live and with that little use, it holds up okay, but I never know when it’s going to to spoil…I just know that, with all these hang-ups, it will.

5 Stars I love it!
It is perfect for what I need. I’m a musician but a lot of people was asking me to dj a little in weddings and parties, so now I’m ready! It already paid for itself last week….GREAT

1 Star Not Recommended At All
Background

I am a mobile DJ who has been part-time in the industry for over nearly 15 years. My music collection consists of around 1200 CDs and until recently I had always used my Numark Dual CD player to operate. First I had the CDN-34s now I have the CDN-88. About a year and a half ago I started ripping my CD collection and about one year ago exactly, I had made enough progress to make CDs the backup and a laptop running iTunes for my main source of music. It has worked FINE with only one minor hiccup for a whole year. Why bother messing with a good thing you ask? Well I wanted to get back to DJing! I missed the live mixing and cueing of songs not to mention that iTunes does not have key locked increases in tempo and other cool DJ effects. I have a 160GB iPod with about 90GB of MP3s on it so I figured this would be the way to go.

The Review

I bought the unit from a Sam Goody with a Odyssey case: iDJ2 $550 and case $200. The case is worthless, it weighs a TON and the foam inside is too thick to shut the case so I had to rip a section out (which I will re-glue when I return it) to make it shut over the iDJ2. WOW who engineered this thing and didn’t measure it??

Why a one star?

A) It would probably take DAYS to build a “library” on the iPod using the unit. I have 17,000 songs and I let it go for one hour (my limit of frustration) and decided to try to use the computer since I have a pretty fast laptop. Here’s where it gets worse. I gave it 7 hours and it still wasn’t finished using a Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz CPU on Vista 64-bit. Unacceptable. But it takes a while to analyze all that music you say. OK fine. The deal breaker is in the next complaint.

B) Errors Errors Errors. It took me a lot of reading in the manual to find out I needed to enable disk mode in the iPod. That should have been step 1 or 2 after plug the unit in and turn it on. Then the iDJ2 had trouble reading the iPod in the dock. I used the iPod USB cable because the dock stopped recognizing the iPod but the USB connector would be fine. Then I tried using the iDJ2 search wheel on a song while it was playing to cue to a specific part of the song and it said: “Please don’t disconnect the library while playing, use the eject button…” (I don’t remember word for word) and it “rebooted” the connection to the iPod. I didn’t bump it or do anything to disrupt the connection. Song stopped playing and it happened again when I tried to play the song again.

Luckily all my problems happened while this was in my living room and not on the job. This iDJ2 unit and case are going back to the store.

Pros:

-XLR Outputs

-Accepts Other Sources via Line In (You are going to need them)

Cons:

-Expected plug and play operation and found out it takes HOURS of processing to ready your iPod

-Even with all the firmware upgrades (yeah I did those first thing!) it has BUGS and ERRORS. (I have a 160GB circa October 2007 iPod)

NOT RECOMMENDED. DO NOT RISK YOUR REPUTATION ON THIS EQUIPMENT.

4 Stars Numark IDJ2
The IDJ2 is a great product, easy to learn & put out a good sound. With the update from Numark this made the system run much faster but I’m still having problems using the search on my key board what gives the new updates doesn’t solve this problem. I only have a few major questions for Numark, are you gonna make a program so mixes can be saved or recorded to the IDJ2, why was this feature removed but is still advertised on web sights, this was the real reason I purchased this produce, the first IDJ2 has it but this new model doesn’t?

Logitech Cordless Number Pad for Notebooks

August 31, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment

Run the numbers on the road with the Logitech Cordless Number Pad for Notebooks. Use one-touch application keys for instant access to Excel, Calculator, and the Web. Extra shortcut keys speed up Excel operations.

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars The best of the bunch
I am a long-time 10-key and keyboard number pad user that now travels with a laptop. After struggling for too long with the numbers at the top I read the reviews and bought the Logitech cordless number pad. In terms of functionality…it works flawlessly. No issues. If you use it exclusively it will be come second nature to you. If you go back and forth between standard keyboard and the Logitech it still functions flawlessly but you’ll find yourself making keying mistakes as the key spacing is slightly different. I have it plugged in next to my USB cordless mouse adapter and have not experienced any problems. I’ve been using it about 2 months now. My only wish would be to have the keys spread a little more…but that’s probably my issue. Buy it…you won’t be disappointed.

1 Star Not compatible with quickbooks
This product seems ok,,, but I couldnt use is with my laptop when needed to work on quickbooks

5 Stars Best Yet
I only wish every computer related product I purchased was as usful and easy to use. It is flawless and works GREAT! Would definately buy any Logitech product.

5 Stars Easy to use
I just plugged it in and started using it. Size is great, and so far it seems pretty durable. I work out of my truck and this keypad works great in any position (Lap, held in hand, on the dash) so far distance from the reciever has not been an issue.

5 Stars Perfect Laptop Accessory!
This device is perfect for MS Excel and Quickens. I don’t know why I waited so long to purchase it. No more hunting for numbers on my laptop.
