4 Stars a great small laptop
I had this netbook for nearly 5 months now. it is very fast and portable. the main disadvantages are that the key board is very small in a way you will hardly get adapted to it. it is very difficult or nearly impossible to download windows xp on it once it is not preloaded ( it tried with five copies of windows until now and failed). the battery only lasts 2 hours when you have the wifi on. I had no difficulty on connecting to any network. it connects to all printers with no difficulty. it switches on and off very fast. I recommend it to anybody who moves a lot as it is very portable.

Love this little guy! It’s lightning fast and oh so user friendly! If you are looking for a high tech toy that anyone can use, this is it! Even Grandma can easily access the internet and learn to use the software. It is definitely NOT a full size lap top. Keep that in mind! The keyboard is small, as is the memory. It is what it is and it is a truly awesome product! I also have bought a Dell Mini 9, and while I liked the keyboard better, the loss of speed and the lack of user friendliness makes the Ee PC a much better choice.

5 Stars Mini Laptop
I ordered this mini-laptop as an early XMas gift for myself…I am so glad! I love it! I replaced my broken 2 yr old HP laptop with this little mini version and could not be happier. I read all the reviews so I was prepared for the small keyboard and slight issues w/key strokes. NO problem…well worth it to have such a light and easy to use machine. The screen is a bit smaller than most webpages so when pulling pages some slight adjustments need to be made to see the entire screen - but again not a problem or room for concern. The software pre-loaded on the laptop easily converts my Office products (word/excel) and opening email w/attachments is very easy. I am a real estate agent and the only problem so far has been w/my local associations website - I have problems w/their site and downloading their info - but I am currently working with their IT folks and should have that problem resolved. I love the size and comfort of this little work horse. I had a small DVD player case of my kids that we use on trips in a closet…I slipped my mini-laptop right in the vinyl case w/handles. It fits perfectly! My favorite part is using it in bed while watching tv..when I am done - its so small it just slips in the nightstand drawer. Something that was always difficult with a full size laptop. It boots quickly and shuts down even quicker…so user friendly! I also love the cord - it very long and doesn’t have that heavy power source box attached like my old HP. My kids love the little mini and fight over using it all of the time…its a great little laptop and work computer! I would highly recommend my little work horse!

ITS A GREAT LITTLE PIECE FOR JUST SURFING WEB. I HAD TO RETURN BECAUSE OF LINUX. I DIDNT REALIZE THAT I WOULD HAVE TO RECONFIGURE MY WHOLE WIRELSS SYSTEM BECAUSE OF THE LINUX. GET IT WITHOUT LINUX…. JMO

Love this little laptop…but, I have had it now for about 4 months. My 9yr old loves it. It’s great for travel but today some of the keys are not working. Has anyone else had problems with the keys?

Update…..ASUS sent replacement keyboard that was very easy to install. We are good to go again.

This actually belongs to a friend now, but I used it for a couple of weeks. It does everything you want a travel PC to do. It connects to the internet well, Skype works really well with the integral camera, microphone and speakers. I had a bit of an issue when I loaded Windows Proffessional Care that I could not navigate to all parts of the screen regardless of screen resolution setting (not a problem with the 900). The battery life is good compared to the eee 900 I bought for myself. The choice on the eee is a balance between price, battery life and screen size. If battery life is everything then don’t hesitate, get the 7″ eee. If it isn’t then the 900 is probably a better bet with its 9″ screen since they are built in the same case, so weight and physical size are identical. The other point worth noting is that sound quality on the 7″ is notably better because the speakers are either side of the screen rather than on the underside of the unit. To be honest, browsing the internet and listening to BBC radio online, I couldn’t detect a difference in speed between this and the 900 which has more RAM and a different processor. It is worth noting that the keyboard legend is easier to read on the white eee than the black eee.

This Laptop is everything I wanted and more. I did a lot of research before making this purchase, and it has paid off in full. I was looking for a very small, litewieght laptop that would allow me to connect to the internet and be able to edit some documents while I was traveling. The size and wieght of this laptop are incredible, I bought the Windows version and it boots and runs quickly. Nothing but good things to say about it.

After much research on ultra-mobile personal computers, I decided to go for this model and bought a slightly used one. I was not disappointed. For one thing, I wanted the Windows XP operating system. I took it with me on a trip — easy to carry — and found that the wirless connection was really good.

1 Star Simple?…Till You Plug Into Your Computer!!!!
This unit is supposed to simple to use. It is until you try and view the files on your computer. After hooking it up with the supplied USB cord my computer locked up. After a reboot I was able to open the files only to recieve an error message. Reboot again, only this time a windows message saying the USB mass storage device was not working properly. In other words just one problem after another. After doing some research on line I found out that there are thousands of other people who have had the same problems with trying to open the files on their computers.

There is nothing worse than hardware/software that advertises itself as being simple and straight forward to use but in the end involves having to jump through all kinds of hoops to get it to work. To me its really simple, it works or it does not. I should not have to do a bunch of complicated reconfiguration of my computer, or have to Google a handful of “error” messages or wade through a ton of user group discussion blogs to try and get the #$@^ thing to work right out of the box!

Bottom line is that this thing has bugs big time! I’m taking mine back for a refund!

Bought for my sister for xmas, excellent laptop for her since it is so small and easy to just throw into your bag. She uses it for the internet and to play her iPod music. I have looked for years for a laptop that was compact, no fuss and would do what I need (Word processing, and e-mail). This is it! Right from the box it was ready to roll. The WI-FI works great, networking in motels with RJ cord works great. The word processor melds seamlessly with MS WORD. Even the photo program is handy. Small (size of a trade paperback book), light (two pounds), it is perfect for my needs. Fits in a day pack without a problem. Highly recommend for anyone on the road and needs something that won’t weigh you down.
