3 Stars Great TV -Beware of Electronics Expo!!!!!!
I purchased this product through Amazon from Electronics Expo. I received the TV on time, spent 5 hours setting it up with my home theater and making sure everything was perfect. The picture quality is absolutely amazing. 4 Days later while watching the basketball game, the TV made a loud popping noise and turned off. I was unable to get a picture after that. I contacted Electronics Expo thinking they would just send me a new one since the one I bought was defective. Boy, was I wrong. The person I spoke to went on for several minutes about their policy and made me feel like it was my fault the TV died. He said there was nothing they could do and asked me to call Samsung. I then contacted Samsung and was told they would need to send a service tech out to look at the TV but it would be about a week before he could come out. I had no choice so I waited, took the day off from work when he was scheduled and then he didn’t even come out. He called me the day of and asked what the problem was and I told him. He said there was no need for him to come since he knew what was wrong with the TV. He said he would have to replace the panel but did not have any available and would have to order one. He said they would call me to re-schedule the service. It has now been 3 weeks and I am still without a TV. I have contacted Samsung and they tell me to call the local service center but when I do I get an answering machine. I tried contacting Electronics Expo to see if they could call Samsung on my behalf. I was made to feel like a nuisance but afetr talking to a supervisor she took my information and said she would call Samsung on my behalf and would call me back to let me know what they said. I never heard back from her. Needless to say, this purchase has been a nightmare. I had to send in my credit card payment for the purchase price of the TV already. It doesn’t feel good paying over 2 grand for a product that doesn’t work. I am not giving this TV a bad rating, it is a wonderful TV, but I feel its necessary to warn other people before they purchase through Electronics Expo.

No need to repeat what others has said - they got it right.
I received my Samsung LN52A850 and I have to say it is one great HDTV. I’m currently connected using a Cat-5e Ethernet cable and I’m able to view and play all of the movies located on my PC using the DLNA connectivity. Well worth every cent I spent.
The CON’S:
1) Music over DLNA not so good. Finding and selecting the music you want to hear is not easily done using the DLNA connection.
2) Music played over the TV’s speakers also not very good.
I would recommend a really good sound system with HDMI 1.3 supported. Avoid HDMI systems that state HDMI passthru - no sound, just video is provided over the HDMI cable.
BTW can anybody recommend a good Blu-Ray to go with this HDTV? Every review I’ve read so far compares a BD player to a PS 3, with the PS 3 seeming to be the preferred BD player.
5 Stars Arguably the best tv on the market
To start with, I am one of those people that won’t buy anything without first wasting two months trying to make up my mind. When I moved into my house, I spent roughly four months researching televisions. Using AVS Forums as my primary research point, along with other top review sites such as CNET, I ultimately decided on the Samsung LN46A650.
Since I watch a lot of movies, hockey and play, Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii on this tv, I needed something that had deep color but that also could handle fast motion.
The 650 did not disapoint. In fact it was so good, that not only did my friends notice, but my mom and grandmother also commented on how good the tv looked.
So why all this talk about the 6 series when this review is for the 8 series?
Unfortunately a little over a month ago my house was broken into and among other things, my LN46A650 was stolen. When I went to replace the tv my wife had decided that we should get the 52″ instead of another 46″. I decided to take advantage of her idea and looked to see what else was new given that I was thrilled with my 650.
Long story short, we decided on the 52″ 8 series.
To summarize, the LN52A850 has surpassed my expectations and so far many people that thought the 650 was amazing have commented that the 850 is even better!
I would absolutely recommend this tv as the best one available for fast motion gaming, sports and movies. I would also recommend Amazon.com as I was pleased with the service on both of the tvs that I have purchased.
5 Stars Great Purchase, Live’s up to the hype!
My Wife and I weren’t even planning to buy another TV yet. We just couldn’t resist the price. It was unbelievably lower than local competitors (closest local was $600 more). Free shipping and no tax? Crazy, but great for us. The TV is fantastic. We haven’t seen any clouding that was mentioned in other reviews. We must be the lucky ones. The color is miles better than the 46″ Sharp Aquos we moved into the bedroom. The picture is crystal clear. We don’t have bluray or HD yet, but even standard definition is super clean. We have an upscaling DVD player that makes things so clear they look fake. My only minor gripe was with the delivery/set-up. The guy that delivered didn’t set it up as Amazon.com said. He opened the box and when my Wife asked about the set up, he said he didn’t do that. I read they were supposed to set it up and turn it on to show you it worked. We had no problems doing it ourselves, it just not what we expected. Can’t really complain when we didn’t pay for shipping anyway. This was my first purchase with Amazon.com, but it won’t be the last! Thanks!
5 Stars Pretty
After researching this LCD, I decided to go with it. The picture quality is awesome. I run the sound through a receiver with 5.1 surround. The 120hz is a little weird. You can turn it off if you want. But HD news and sports are sweet in 120hz.
My one complaint is that due to the glossy front, during the day you can see yourself in the TV. But at night when I mainly use the TV I don’t see any reflection. I bought the TV off Amazon for $600 less then Best Buy. Worth it.

5 Stars Ridiculously good!
Researched 50″ plasmas & 52″ LCD’s for months and finally pulled the trigger on this little slice of heaven. For the price, this TV is by far the best thing going. I’ve had it now for about 2 months & have had no problems whatsoever. Don’t let the 720p scare you…you don’t need 1080p at this size & you definitely don’t need the extra cost. The picture is phenomenal & the white glove service from Amazon was flawless. My only regret is not buying this plasma sooner.

After searching for a HD television for the last few months I came across this television at 6th ave Electronics. I looked at all the the televisions in the store and when I came across this one I was amazed at the picture. I thought it was 1080p because it looked so clear. The sales guy also sold me on this one. Even though this model is a 720p it plays up to 1080i. Outside of the blu ray which plays 1080p there is no channel on television that is 1080p. I have a PS3 and the blu ray plays amazing on it. I can’t imagine the picture being any clearer than it is already. Also burn in is not an issue with this tv. I play video games all day and it doesn’t effect it at all.

5 Stars Great Value at a Great Price.
This is my first HDTV and so I researched this purchase for several days and I simply could not find a better deal for the dollar. The 720p resolution looks amazing and I see no need to shell out several hundred dollars more for a 1080p unless you are purchasing a set larger than 55″. I have been completely satisfied with the HD quality as well as the processing of standard definition shows. If you have young children I would recommend purchasing TV Armor or some other screen protector as my kids try and touch or hug the characters on Sesame Street at least once a week.
Finally, the white glove delivery was very good. I live in the Texas Panhandle and the TV was in my home six days after I pressed the purchase button. I was a little disappointed that only one person delivered the unit. If it had just been my wife at home when the unit arrived I don’t know how things would have worked out, so check with the driver when they call to setup the delivery.
Overall, I am completely satisfied and plan on utilizing this set for many years to come.

I am not entirely satisfied with this product. The instructions are unclear (probably because they are written by the Japanese). It took me ages just to figure out how to operate it. Finally, I figured out that the plug needed to be inserted into the electrical outlet. It didn’t say that anywhere in the directions!
When I turned it on, i discovered that it only gets one channel. Every time I plug it in, I simply get a loud “FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF” sound and a bunch of black and white stuff that moves quickly around the screen. My friend calls this phenomenon “white noise” however, I can see black in there too. It is my estimation that this is probably some show about a swarm of files.
I also have reason to believe that this device emits harmful radiation. The label calls it a “Plasma” T.V. As everyone knows, Plasma is a state of matter in which gas becomes ionized. This is similar to the state that creates nuclear fusion within stars. Because of this plasma, this device most likely emits harmful gamma radiation! I looked closely at the T.V. and discovered that it says “made in china”. This plasma added by the Chinese is likely a communist plot to render the people of the United States sterile.
One plus is that it doesn’t use the vacuum tubes that my old T.V. has. It’s also much larger and thinner.
In the end, I recommend this product to people that enjoy watching flies, and enjoy self sterilization.
